For a couple years now us ladies have been hemming and hawing about getting a new design here on our blog.
We just could not decide on if we should hire someone to do our design for us or do it ourselves. What was the look we wanted to go with, how about colors, themes, and what features were important.
But, due to upcoming Google changes our hands were sort of forced to just push on through and get it done and to stop putting it off.
It seems that Google has announced that starting in April, websites that were not properly optimized and designed for mobile traffic were going to be penalized. After analyzing our website stats it was rather easy to see that many of our readers use their cell phones and tablets to view our website.
And that totally makes sense because we do it ourselves! Whenever we find a great recipe on Pinterest or on a favorite blog we totally are using our iPads or phones to cook from.
So the biggest and most important change to our site…Crock-Pot Ladies is now mobile friendly!
That means our website will shrink to fit your screen no matter if you are viewing us on your iPhone, Android, iPad, Kindle or other web-enabled device!
New color theme of red, white and blue – We three ladies are small town gals living in the heartland of America and our recipes are not gourmet. They are real recipes that we are proud to present to our readers as something we have made in our home kitchens and fed to our families and friends. These are recipes that come from our kitchens to yours.
New logo – our old logo was fun but it was time for something new. Something bright and a little less busy.
New recipe index – One of our most popular pages here at Crock-Pot Ladies is our recipe index. A page that houses ALL of our recipes. It was just time to give that page a little face-lift with photos.
In the next couple of weeks we will be spending some time making a few minor behind the scenes tweaks to a few pages, making sure everything is up to date and just doing a little of this and that.
We will of course be sharing more delicious recipes with you.
We will be updating our email newsletter template to match the new blog design. So if are reading this post from our newsletter…have faith we will get our newsletter to match the look of the site soon. And if you have not yet subscribed to our newsletter we would love it if you would join…it’s the best way to be sure you see the latest recipes, news and updates from us!
A blog is a constant thing you are always learning, updating, tweaking and playing with to get things “just so”.
A couple quick thanks….we did not hire a designer (I did it myself!) but we do love the Foodie Pro theme and the Studiopress Genesis framework. If you have a blog I seriously recommend Genesis and their child themes. They are amazing!
And lastly a big huge thanks to all our readers! You guys are amazing! We love connecting with you and sharing recipes. Love reading your comments and emails. Thank you for hanging out with us!
