Pressure Cooker Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal
With fall officially here we thought it would only be appropriate to try out a yummy pumpkin pie spiced steel cut oatmeal recipe.
I love a warm bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. There is just something so cozy and comforting about it. And this pumpkin pie flavored oatmeal does not disappoint in the comfort food category.
This recipe literally comes together in a matter of minutes. Just measure out a few ingredients and dump them into the electric pressure cooker. And let it cook for 10 minutes and that is it.
There is a little waiting time for your pressure cooker to come to pressure and then release pressure after cooking. But that is passive time and you can be making a pot of coffee, setting out bowls and spoons and enjoying your morning while your oatmeal is cooking away.
I topped my bowl of finished Crock-Pot Express Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal with a little sprinkle of additional brown sugar and let me tell you it was FANTASTIC!
I hope you enjoy this recipe too!

Frequently Asked Questions
This recipe can be made with quick cooking steel cut oats instead of regular steel cut oats by simply reducing the cooking time by 2 minutes. The remaining instructions for the recipe remain the same.
We do not recommend using regular rolled oats (also known as old fashioned oats) or quick cooking oats as a replacement for the steel cut oats called for in this steel cut oatmeal recipe. Steel cut oats have a different texture when cooked and using rolled or quick oats will result in an overcooked and mushy oatmeal.
If you want to add more pumpkin flavor (as well as fiber!) you can add up to 2/3 of a cup of pure pumpkin puree.
If you want to add some variety to your oatmeal you can add up 1/2 cup of your favorite dried fruits or nuts to your oatmeal. Some ideas might be: raisins, cranberries, dates, pecans, walnuts or shelled pumpkin seeds. You can either add the fruit or nuts to the oatmeal before cooking or simply add them after cooking before serving.
If you are on a sugar free diet you can easily make this yummy oatmeal recipe low sugar by replacing the 3/4 cup of brown sugar called for in the recipe for 3/4 cup of Splenda Brown Sugar Blend.
