Crockpot Teriyaki Chicken Variations

If you would like to change the flavor profile of these chicken wings you can try the following flavor enhancing variations…

  • Spicy – Add a teaspoon or two of red pepper flakes.
  • Garlic – Add an additional clove or two of minced garlic to the recipe.
  • Ginger – Add a teaspoon or two of grated fresh ginger to the sauce mixture.
  • Sesame – Add 1 teaspoon of toasted sesame oil to the sauce mixture and then garnish the finished wings with a tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds.
  • Island Teriyaki – Add one 15 ounce can of drained pineapple tidbits.

  • Small Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Dry Measuring Cups And Spoons
  • Garlic Press
  • Tongs

Ingredients

  • 3 Pounds Chicken Wings
  • 1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
  • ½ Cup Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Ketchup
  • 1 Clove Garlic (minced)

Instructions

  • Place chicken wings in a 6 quart or larger slow cooker and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Combine remaining ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.
  • Pour sauce over wings and toss to coat using tongs.
  • Cover and cook on LOW heat for 6 to 7 hours or on HIGH heat for 3 to 4 hours.

Notes

If you would like your wings to be crispier, transfer the wings to a baking sheet and broil in the oven for 3 to 5 minutes per side being careful not to burn the wings. Additionally you can grill them on an outdoor BBQ grill for the same time.
