Crock-Pot Overnight Raisin Apple Oatmeal

This recipe is perfect for when you want to wake up to breakfast already made. Just measure out your ingredients right before bed and turn your slow cooker on to LOW and let it cook overnight for about 8 hours.

In the morning, you will arise to the heavenly aroma of cinnamon and apples and a warm and hearty breakfast!

The hardest part of this recipe is peeling and chopping up an apple (or two if you like more apple in your oatmeal!)

Ingredients Needed:

  • Milk – I used fat-free skim milk because that is the type of milk I buy for my family. However feel free to use any kind of milk in this recipe, even dairy free varieties such as almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, etc.
  • Quick Cooking Oats
  • Apple – You can use your favorite kind of apple in this recipe however I really like to use either a Granny Smith apple, Fuji apple or Golden Delicious apple. (See our guide on picking the right kind of apple for any recipe)
  • Raisins – You can use any kind of raisin in this recipe. From regular brown raisins to golden raisins. You can even use other dried fruit such as dried cranberries!
  • Brown Sugar
  • Unsalted Butter – Melted
  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Kosher Salt

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients to a 4 to 5 quart slow cooker and stir well.
  2. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours.
  3. Stir before serving.

Products Needed:

  • 4 Quart, 4.5 Quart Or 5 Quart Slow Cooker
  • Dry Measuring Cups And Spoons
  • Knife
  • Apple Corer
  • Vegetable Peeler
  • Cutting Board
  • Wooden Spoon

Oh Gosh that stinks!. I truely believe that some crock-pots vary in temperature. I know my large one seems to cook quicker than my smaller one. Was it burnt bad or just slightly? maybe you could adjust the time down and see.

Same here! I didn’t read the notes ahead of time! haha. My husband was so looking forward to it and it was burnt all up. Large Crock Pot and next time I’ll double. Hope that works!

Whenever I want to use a recipe like this, I ALWAYS try it during the day first, so see how long it actually takes in MY crockpot. I have made overnight oatmeal before, and it only takes 4 hours max on low (only 2 hours on high) in my crockpot.

Would steel cut oats work in this recipe?

I just made this recipe for a breakfast potluck. I am so glad I read the comments before I tried it! I quadrupled the recipe, and made it in a large crockpot, cooking it on high for two hours. It came out great, but I did have to stir it every 15 mins to keep it from sticking and burning. I mixed raisins and craisins half and half and put in some real maple syrup in place of some of the brown sugar. It was a huge hit! Lots of people asked for the recipe. It did dry out over the two hour period when it was being served, so,I would suggest adding adding extra water or milk if it is not going to be served or eaten immediately.
