Frequently Asked Questions

What Type Of Tea Bags Are Used In This Chia Latte Recipe?

I used regular Lipton brand black tea bags as those are the most commonly found tea bags in the US. However, you can use any brand of plain, unflavored black tea bags.

Can I Use Unsweetened Coconut Milk From A Carton Versus Canned?

Yes you can. I buy canned coconut milk simply because it has a longer shelf life. If you are using coconut milk from a carton you will measure out about 1 1/4 cups.

Can I Use Regular Milk If I Am Not On A Dairy-Free Diet?

Absolutely, you can use regular milk or even a combination of milk and cream. I choose to make this dairy free simply because I had guests who were lactose intolerant.

Can I Make This A Boozy Chai Latte? If So What Kind Of Alcohol Should I Use?

If you would like to spike this chai latte with a little booze for a more adult beverage you sure can. You can add 1/2 to 1 cup of the following alcoholic spirits to your slow cooker for a great cocktail.

– Spiced Rum
– Bourbon
– Whiskey
– Vodka (either plain or coconut flavored)
– Kahlua

I used nothing more than lipton tea bags. The type you would use to make regular every day tea.

How many oz. Of coconut milk do you use? I buy it by the carton, and have not seen the cans in my store.

This looks wonderful but I don’t understand why a 5 qt cooker would be used with such a small amount of liquid. Can you help me with this? TIA

Hey Judy, thanks for your comment. After looking at your comment and then the recipe I agree with you, you can make this chai latte in a smaller slow cooker. I have adjusted the recipe to now say 3 to 5 quart slow cooker. Thanks for your feedback!
