Crock-Pot Easy Italian Pork Chops

I’ve been making quite a few pork recipes lately and this time Crock-Pot Easy Italian Pork Chops is what I came up with.  Currently at my house it’s mission “use up all the frozen meat in the freezer” before Thanksgiving gets here and I need to store a turkey.  So I’m not planning ahead like I normally do.  I’m pulling out the meat, letting it thaw and then trying to figure out what I can come up with, with the ingredients I have on hand.  It’s a fun game.

I’ve got an excess of Italian salad dressing that needs to be used, and I hadn’t used it in the crock for quite a while, so I decided to incorporate it into the recipe.  I paired it with some bread crumbs and onions and we had a recipe.

Yes it’s that easy.  It was absolutely delicious.  We didn’t need any extra salt or pepper and I know when my kids come home the next day from school and are fighting on who gets to eat the leftovers from the night before, that it’s a winner!

Instructions
  1. Spray a 6 quart slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray or line with a Crock-Pot Liner if desired.
  2. Place a layer of onion at the bottom of the crock.
  3. Take approximately 2 cups of Italian bread crumbs into a shallow bowl, that will fit a pork chop.
  4. Pour approximately 1/2 of the Italian dressing into the bread crumbs and mix until all moistened.
  5. Wait about 5 minutes for the bread crumbs to absorb the moisture.
  6. Pour an additional half of what is left of the Italian dressing into the bread crumbs and again mix.
  7. Pat each Pork Chop into the mixture smearing it on both sides of the pork chop.
  8. Place a layer of pork chops in the crock.
  9. Place a layer of onions.
  10. Place another layer of pork chops covered in the Italian dressing/crumbs mixture.
  11. Add another layer of onions.
  12. If you have more chops feel free to keep making layers, I had 2 left on top and then covered the rest with more onions.
  13. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours.

Can you cook it on a high setting 3-4 hours?

You can, you’ll just need to be able to watch it to make sure it doesn’t burn.

Now all of a sudden you are charging for the same recipes that you gave out for free around the new year. If I had known that I would have printed them out. You could have told us limited time or something. I thought I could pull up the instructions for each when I put them in the crock pot. Now I have the meatloaf in the crockpot and I don’t have the full recipe so I can add the things that wouldn’t fit in the freezer bag. I made all 10 recipes, put in the freezer and now I don’t have access to the actual recipes. If I had wanted to buy recipes I would have done that to begin with. Can you please at least tell me what the liquid amounts are for the meatloaf?

When you want to keep a recipe without printing it, it is easy. tell the computer to print and when the print window comes up, look at the bottom of the window and find where it says”save as PDF.” Then save it. That way, you have it and can even print it at a later date. Hope this helps.

I liked the overall flavor of the pork chops. My husband and I did not like the bread crumbs. They were too soggy. I will have to try it next time without the bread crumbs.

Making this recipe now, is the bread crumbs and dressing supposed to be so very soft and mushy . It won’t attach to the pork chop very well

It should be a little moist. You will want to kind of pat it on the pork chops.

I recommend not using the bread crumbs, they are too mushy! Flavor was great, texture, not so much.

No water or fluid other than the dressing is needed? Trying to learn new dinner ideas but I’ve never used a crock pot much.
