With just 4 ingredients in this quick and easy recipe for Crock-Pot Venison Tenderloin. The deer meat comes out SO tender and moist and full of flavor!

Slow Cooker Venison Tenderloin
Since my family is a hunting family we always have a freezer full of delicious and lean deer meat. We love the flavor of venison and this recipe is SO stinkin’ easy and yummy that I am sure if you are a venison lover as much as I am you are going to want to make this recipe soon!
If you’re not a venison fan, have no fear, you can make this with a beef tenderloin too!
When I spotted a package of deer tenderloin that had been cut up into 1 inch thick slices in my freezer my mouth started to water. I quickly pulled the package out of the freezer and popped it into the refrigerator to thaw overnight.
The next day I sorted through the pantry to and found a couple of cans of low sodium cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup and a package of ranch dressing mix too.
I mixed up the cream of soups (make sure you are using low sodium versions…otherwise this is going to get WAY too salty) with the package of ranch dressing mix (you can totally make your own ranch dressing mix too…we have a recipe for that here ->>> Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix.
Place your slices of deer tenderloin in the crock-pot, pour the soup/ranch mixture over it and let it cook for about 5 hours until the meat in fork tender.
We then served the tenderloins over some cooked egg noodles, spooning the “gravy” mixture over it all for a simple and delicious dinner that the whole family really loved!

This recipe is easily adapted to other cuts of venison such as other types of venison roasts and steaks.
You can use a beef tenderloin or pork tenderloin in this recipe and the results are fantastic. You can also use other game meat such as antelope, elk or moose.
There will still be some wild game taste in the meat with this recipe but I have not found it to be as strong using this recipe. Some readers have reported that soaking the meat in milk for several hours or up to overnight before cooking helps the remove the gamey taste from the venison meat.

I just put this in the crockpot! I can’t wait to try it. We have a freezer full of venison because we are a family who hutns. 🙂 If there are any more venison recipes, bring it on!
I am glad you like Venison recipes. We did not get as much last year and ended up with just a few steaks and some loin and chops. I will see what I can come up with for some of the stew pieces or something.
I’m wondering if it wasn’t the ranch powder that made it salty? I always use about half the package. Flavors it anyway, but does lower the sodium. Just a thought. Trying this tonight with some venison on the verge of being freezer burned. Always go with the crock when that happens.
we have a freezer full of venison and I have this recipe in the crock pot too, can’t wait to see how it comes out! thank you!
we love Venison roasts and stews. I always use the Campbell soups with dry onion soup mix with beef roasts. Would that work as well with Venison? Don’t have Ranch available and it would mean a special trip to the store.
Yes I think that would be yummy!
With cream of mushroom soup and Lipton onion soup is my favorite in the crockpot
On the canned soups, is it the large can or small can?
small ones. 13.5oz size.
Do you have to use the cream of chicken soup?
The cream of chicken soup gives you the flavor. You could substitute for your own homemade cream of chicken soup or another similar flavor soup.
I’m an avid hunter and enjoy eating all wild game. I like for a nice crock pot venison roast. What I use for ingredients are…..place deer roast in the crock pot, sprinkle a packet of powder beef gravy and a packet of powdered hidden valley ranch on top of the roast, one stick of butter right on top of the powdered roast, and place 6-8 Pepperoncini peppers on the roast. Cook on low for 8 hrs. Serve with mashed potatoes.
Does it take the wild game taste out of the venison?
While it will not take all of the wild game taste out of the venison this does help it a bit I think! Give it a try and let us know what you think!
To take the game taste out you must soak the meat in milk for at least 24 hours
Soak the meat in milk for a few hours or over night
the 10.5 oz cans are condensed soup are they ok to use or should it lust be regular soup in larger cans?
Yes use the 10.5 oz cans of condensed soups. Do not add milk or water. Just the condensed soup from the can.
That answered a question I had about not adding water. Was wondering about that. Going to try this recipe today. Thanks so much for all the recipes y’all supply us with for the crock pot. Love them. Love the Minestrone Soup one. The more we ate, the more we wanted of it.
You’re welcome Marsha. I hope you enjoy this venison recipe!
I just put this in the crock pot although I had to substitute chicken broth for cream of chicken so hopefully it turns out delicious anyways.
It should be fine Jessa, just won’t be creamy like if you used cream of chicken soup.
Thanks!
My husband hunts every year but ive never cooked the tenderloins from his deer. This recipe sounds good. I’m just wondering, what would be the best thing to serve with it?
Hi Tiffany you could serve your venison tenderloin with anything you want. But I am thinking a nice salad or green vegetable and a baked potato would be great!
How big is one serving?
1 serving is a 1 inch thick slice
Can I put it in the crockpot unsliced? Or should I slice it first? I have tenderloin but it’s more or a small roast size. Can’t wait to try it !
While we have not tested this recipe using a whole tenderloin I don’t see why it wouldn’t work! If you give a try be sure to come on back and let us know how it turned out for you Becki!
Could I use tenderized venison steaks instead? I would think they would be even better.
While we have not tested this recipe with tenderized venison steaks yet Todd I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. This a rather basic recipe that should work for most types of meat. Keep in mind that steaks might cook faster than a roast and might dry out if overcooked. But if you watch the time I think you should be OK.
If you try it, be sure to come on back and let us know how it turned out for you!
Loved the whole crock pot idea, it’s super easy, I just found it waaaay too salty, even with the low sodium soups. Trying the home made version of the Ranch Dressing might help.
The homemade ranch dressing mix should help Sherri!
Great recipe! Simple. Flavorful. Kids couldn’t tell there were mushrooms in it; ate every bite. Definitely going to be a go-to in the future.
I am so glad everyone in the family loved the recipe David!
What other kind of soup could you use besides cream of mushroom?
You could just use two cans of cream of chicken instead of one.
I had a bloody mess when I tried this recipe. It didn’t say to cook it before you put it in the crock pot. It was a disaster.
I am sorry this recipe did not turn out right for you Hope. I am unsure how sliced venision tenderloin would still be bloody after cooking for 6 hours in the slow cooker. There is no reason why you would need to cook the meat before putting it in the slow cooker. Could you elaborate on how long you cooked the venison for?
Does anyone know how to convert this recipe to be made in an instant pot instead of crockpot?? Help!
Sorry Jackie, this recipe has not been tested in an InstantPot. If your InstantPot has a slow cooker setting you can use that instead.
My venison was super dry after only 3 hours of low heat. How did this happen. I followed your instructions.
Hey John, I am sorry your tenderloin was dry. However the recipe calls for cooking the meat for 5 to 6 hours not just 3 hours. You need to cook the meat longer to soften up the connective tissue in the meat to make the meat tender. If you try this recipe again please be sure to cook it at least 5 hours.
Best of luck
Can this be cooked in the oven and if so for how long?
Hi Stacy, this recipe has not been tested in the oven. This is a Crock-Pot/Slow Cooker blog and as such we only test recipes in the slow cooker.
I used in a frying pan I cooked till medium rare. Then I added soups and I didn’t have ranch so used Italian for another hour on low stirring occasionally. It was very good thank you.
To your comment about removing some of the game flavor I have found one very helpful way. My wife loves venison but is NOT a fan of the strong game flavor but what I have done for years now is let the meat rest in a gallon zip lock bag with 7up/sprite, the game flavor is knocked down a ton compared to before. I am very excited to try this recipe soon!! Looks super simple and quick for the most part.
That is super interesting Braden! Thanks for sharing your great tip for removing the gamey taste in venison with lemon-lime soda!
