Crock-Pot Copycat Steak N Shake Chili

Crock-Pot Copycat Steak N Shake Chili {via CrockPotLadies.com}

My husband loves getting a bowl of chili at our local Steak N Shake Restaurant, The chili has just enough beans, small pieces of meat and a good sauce. Not super spicy, but just enough for a good chili. Great with shredded cheese or onions on top, but he prefers oyster crackers in his. I made this recipe and my husband was amazed at how much it tasted just like the chili he gets at Steak N Shake. My kids used it for Chili Dogs and love it. Leftovers lasted about a day.

    I am not a fan of beans in my chili…what are your suggestions as to how to tweak the recipe to compensate for not including them? Thank you and I love your site!!

      me personally, I would add a little more meat and just leave the beans out. I have just recently been able to eat beans…I was the type that would eat around them.

    Making this now- I added a bit more salt and about 1 tsp of garlic as I felt it needed it after a quick taste test. Otherwise I think this is going to be a winner!

      I am sorry you feel this way. The name is just a name. The recipe is just something that those of us that love Steak n Shake Chili can make at home and enjoy.

    You are referring to a standard household blender in the procedure, aren’t you?? Thanks for all your recipes.
    I am single and do preparation for a variety of meals for an entire upcoming week and you are helping to keep me organized and my stomach full cheaply as well!! I am getting ready to go on a crockpot kick as cool weather will hit soon. Suggestions??

    I followed the recipe as written and I am sorry to say that this is terrible! Oh my, all I taste is the sweetness from the soda! I’m not sure how to go about saving the batch I made, I have added more chili powder, a little bit of cayenne pepper and some garlic and still all that can be tasted is the sweetness.
    I don’t think I will make this again. :(

      I am sorry that you did not prefer this recipe. Not every recipe is something that 100% of the people will like. We have other chili recipes that might suit you better.

    It wasn’t a bad chili, although the sweetness was off-putting. It didn’t taste in the least like Steak ‘n Shake chili, though. Not even a bit. I’d honestly go so far as to suggest a name change so that fans of their chili don’t try to use this to reproduce it, the way I did.
