Slow Cooker Cream Cheese Taco Dip
Dip on into this amazing dip today! Seriously it is just so good!
First…for those that are reading this recipe, I am going to say this upfront. This cheesy recipe uses a block of processed cheese…yep good ol’ Velveeta (or the generic version of). Yes, it is not shredded cheese but I personally think Velveeta tastes good and melts great in the slow cooker. And of course it tastes good when mixed with other tasty ingredients.
If you are still with me on this recipe lets get on with this creamy and cheesy dip!
First your going to brown and crumble the ground beef in a skillet on the stove top and drain off the drippings…or take a package of pre-cooked hamburger out of your freezer.
Add the cooked beef and the rest of the ingredients and let it cook on LOW for about 2 hours giving it a stir every 1/2 hour or so. Once everything is nice and melted, turn your crock-pot to the WARM setting and set out a big bowl of tortilla chips.
As far as the taco seasoning goes in this recipe…you can either use a package of the store bought taco seasoning (look for a low sodium kind) OR you can make your own! While I must admit the store bought kind is convenient but I personally prefer to make up my own taco seasoning because I like to know exactly what is in it.

Common Questions
Can I Use Ground Turkey In This Slow Cooker Dip Recipe?
You can easily substitute ground turkey for the ground beef called for in this Cream Cheese Taco Dip recipe. In fact, you can use just about any other type of ground meat such as:
- Turkey
- Chicken
- Pork
- Venison
- Bison
Can I Cook This Recipe On HIGH Instead Of LOW?
While we think cooking this recipe on the LOW heat setting for 3 hours is best because it allows the cheeses to melt slowly and the flavors to develop. If you are in a hurry to get this recipe cooked and ready to serve you can cook this dip on HIGH for about 1 1/2 hours. Just be sure to watch your dip and stir it frequently to prevent the cheeses from burning.
How Long Can I Keep This Dip On WARM For Serving At My Party?
It is safe for most foods to keep on the WARM setting for up to 4 hours. Just try and have your party guests re-cover the slow cooker to prevent the dip from cooling too much. Sometimes when a dip is kept on the WARM setting for several hours the dip may start to thicken. If this happens to your dip add a splash of milk to your dip and stir it to loosen it back up.
