Slow Cooker Ooey Gooey Cinnamon Rolls
I have been wanting to buy the Crock-Pot 3.5 quart Casserole Slow Cooker.
Don’t let the fact that it is only 3.5 quarts in size get you down. The dish itself is a decent size casserole dish. I like the fact that it is more of a flat surface but still is a slow cooker. The lid is also a locking lid that locks to the actual slow cooker securely. And there is plenty of head room under the lid.
Okay, enough about this slow cooker. I had to make something in this slow cooker to see how it works.
This cinnamon roll recipe is one that was passed down to me from a friend and my kids and I have loved it every-time we have had it. So I just converted it to be cooked in the casserole crock-pot.
The basis of the recipe is frozen pre-made cinnamon rolls. I prefer the Rhodes brand if your store carries them.
You can use any other brand of frozen cinnamon rolls or if you are feeling adventurous you can make homemade cinnamon rolls.

I am making the ooey gooey cinnamon rolls. They smell great and are rising. Rising and pushing the cover! It has been 1.5 hours. How can I remedy this so they get done in the center? They are very doughy.
Thanks
Hi Donna, each slow cooker cooks differently. I would say to try flipping the slow cooker insert around. This method helps if you have a slow cooker with a hot spot where one part of the slow cooker cooks faster than the other parts.
Hi, Would we be able to use our 6 quart crock pot to make this?
Yes that should work just fine!
Thank you!! Can’t wait to make this for Christmas morning!!
Do you have to freeze and Let rise? Could I just start cooking right out of the can??
This recipe is made using a bag of frozen cinnamon rolls (that’s how they come from the store), not refrigerated canned cinnamon rolls.
What is the difference in using cook & serve pudding vs instant?
Great question Robin, the difference between cook and serve pudding and instant pudding is the type of starch they use to make the pudding thick. Cook and serve pudding usually uses cornstarch as the main thickener that is activated with the heat of cooking. Instant pudding uses a modified cornstarch which thickens in cold milk. Because you are not making actual pudding with this recipe but are exposing it to heat you will want to use the cook and serve pudding mix and not the instant pudding mix for sure. Hope that helps!
If you don’t have this type crockpot, can you bake these in the oven? If so, what temperature and for how long? Thanks!
You can make these in a regular round or oval slow cooker too Dana. I just like the casserole shaped slow cooker because you get more surface area. And, while this recipe has not been tested in the oven I think it should work. If I were to give my best guess I would bake at 350 degrees F for about 30 minutes, test and cook longer if needed.
