Homemade Chili Seasoning Mix

Sometimes grabbing a packet of store bought chili seasoning mix is easy and convient but if you have ever came across a recipe calling for a packet but did not have one on hand it might be nice to be able to make your own.

Plus when you make your own homemade seasoning mixes you know EXACTLY what is in them.

The store bought packets are often filled with extra salt and MSG. And they often contain thickeners like wheat flour which can be problematic for anyone on a gluten-free diet.

Our recipe for homemade chili seasoning mix on the other hand has just 5 ingredients and no salt or thickeners. Because we believe that YOU should be able to control the sodium in your diet and thickeners don’t really solve any problems in homemade chili.

Chili cooked right is thick enough but if yours needs thickening a little slurry made out of corn masa flour and water will thicken it right up without any added gluten.

Thank you for this recipe! Do you know how many teaspoons of this would be equal to a standard packet of store-bought chili seasoning mix?

Thank you for this mix. Although I did add more of each ingredient and added others for more spiciness. The chili turned out great!
