Crock-Pot Hawaiian Meatballs

Watch out dear readers, this recipe for Crock-Pot Hawaiian Meatballs is going to knock your socks off. These meatballs are mighty addictive. I actually made a double batch of this recipe in my large 7-quart slow cooker and took these to a potluck event at the kids school and they were a HUGE hit and not a single meatball was left. I was so sad.

But not really because later that week I made another batch and served these tasty meatballs over some sticky rice and a bag of frozen stir-fry vegetables that I cooked up with just some sesame oil and minced garlic and we had these for dinner.

The entire family gobbled these up…totally a kid friendly meal!

This is one of those recipes that has minimal prep – cut your bell peppers, mix your sauce and dump everything in the Crock-Pot, turn it on and let it cook away!

Crock-Pot Hawaiian Meatballs

You just cannot go wrong with this recipe folks and there are only 5 ingredients which makes it just super easy to make.

I urge you to try this recipe yourself and either make it for dinner or as an appetizer for your next get together. You won’t be disappointed, I promise!

      Hi Lisa,

I don’t know how many grams of sugar, but it is safe to say that this recipe is a pretty full of sugar as is. It is rather sweet. If you can find a sugar free preserves to use it would drastically help bring down the sugar content in this recipe. The hoisin sauce is a bit sweet but it is the pineapple preserves that takes this over the top in the sugar department.

Hi Heidi, do you think this would work with tinned pineapple pieces and uncooked, non-frozen meatballs?

I think you could use canned pineapple. However, it probably won’t make the yummy sauce that the preserves make. What I would do if pineapple preserves is not available is use some canned pineapple and some peach or apricot jam instead.

As far as the non-frozen, non cooked meatballs go. I don’t think it will work. The meatballs may turn to mush in the slow cooker. It would work with cooked meatballs but raw I don’t feel comfortable recommending.

You could make your own meatballs, freeze them, overnight. I would think that would work. Just more work.

Yes you could make your own meatballs. With this recipe I was going for “quick and easy”

How spicy is Hoisin Sauce? Does the preserves mellow out the flavor or is there some kick to these meatballs?

Why can’t I pin this recipe? I have it in the crock pot now and can’t hardly wait to eat it, But I wanted to pin it for future reference. When I try it says oops, this image is invalid (or something to that effect). It also happened when I tried to pin Orange Soda Ham. Any tips for me on pinning it? If Pinterest goes down, my “recipe book” is as good as burnt up in a fire! sigh.

Hi Hollie, I am not sure why Pinterest is giving that error message but I am looking into it right now. In the meantime try repining from this link – http://www.pinterest.com/pin/74872412529234277/

Because my family loves spice, I added a little Asian garlic chili sauce. It was a hit.

What is hoisin sauce ? And where do I get it ? Is it like soy sauce ?

Hi Yvonne, hoisin sauce is made from soybeans and usually has some vinegar, sugar, garlic and different spices. It is thicker in texture than soy sauce more like a BBQ sauce. You should be able to find it it most grocery stores in the Asian cooking section of the store by where you would find soy sauce, teriyaki sauce and the like.

Hi Lynn, if you cannot find pineapple preserves you can use apricot preserves. It won’t be quite the same but it will be close.
