Slow Cooker Peach Dump Cake
Dump cakes in the slow cooker are an easy and fast way to make a great dessert in no time. With the Crock-Pot Peach Dump Cake, you can use fresh peaches and a little sugar water, and you can add in an extra can of peaches if you like it with more fruit. Sprinkle a little cinnamon on top of the peaches for a little added flavor. I chose to serve with whip cream, but this is also yummy with vanilla ice cream.

For the cake mix, what is the measurement you are using? Also, how much more butter and cake mix would you add if you used 29 oz of peaches instead?
I would just use one regular cake mix and just have it extra peachy. If not, you could use two dry cake mixes and the 29oz can of peaches.
I think your suggestion is the best for 29 oz can of peaches.
What kind of peaches??? Just the can with juice in it???
Yes. Just a can of peaches
Yes yes
How many servings does this make?
Can the slow cooker dump cake be doubled
While we have not tested this recipe doubled and cannot comment on how it will turn out for sure. If you have a big enough crock-pot I think it should work.
I made this tonight and it was wayyyyy too buttery. Blech…
Sorry it wasn’t to you liking Misti
I made this with a slightly different recipe that called for 6 oz and I thought it was ok. I would personally try 4 oz. next time.
I used half the butter and sliced it on top evenly instead of melting. It turned out perfectly. And made my home smell good 😊
So glad you enjoyed the recipe Kathy. Slicing the butter on top sounds great!
I am trying this recipe right now. I thought about adding nuts as a topping, but decided to see jow it turns out without any extras. I did simmer the peaches with ginger, cinnamon and grated nutmeg.
This is so yummy & the easy & quickest dessert I have ever made
So glad you enjoyed this recipe for Crock-Pot Peach Dump Cake Brandie!
I made this and it turned out great!! I added chopped nuts on top of the peaches in the crockpot and it was a hit!! If you want to impress family… This is it.
What a great idea with the nuts!
I added 1/3 cup of chopped walnuts and 1/2 tsp of nutmeg on top of the cake mix.
Do you need to spray cockpot
You should not need to spray the slow cooker Polly. But if you want to you can. It may make clean up a little easier.
No one mentioned pouring the syrup off, therefore I’m assuming that is what u do? I’m wanting to make this right now. It was a hit at work when my co-worker brought it last week
Sorry I just seen where it says u use the syrup.
Hi Mrs.Jacks in this recipe you will use the syrup. And a white cake mix will work.
I found it to be way too sweet so would use peaches in light of non sweetened syrup/juice next time I make it.
All I have is white cake mix. Will that work?
Yes white cake mix will work.
This is in one of my crockpots right now! It’s going to be 1 of 5 desserts that I’ve made for my family’s Thanksgiving feast. 😊 I can’t wait to try it. The only thing I had to change up is the cake mix. I have Celiac Disease so, therefore, I’m using a gluten free yellow cake mix. Thanks so much for posting the oh-so-easy recipe!
Is there a specific brand of cake mix I should use?
Any brand of cake mix will work…we have used both Pillsbury and Betty Crocker as well as the store brand cake mixes in our dump cake recipes and they all seem to work equally as well!
Well…first time doing a dump cake in the crockpot. Taste of the peach dump cake was great! I thought the consistency was not what I expected — it had a pudding consistency and didn’t quite come together as the number of times done in the oven.
Please Note: you can use fresh peaches (we had an abundance so I wanted to try this), but you have to stir at the end of the cooking time and cook for another two hours. Real tasty though.
Fresh peaches are awesome. Thanks for the tips Mary!
What did you do to substitute for the peach juice?
Hi Carletta, in this recipe you use the can of peaches and the juice that comes in the can with the peaches. Just dump the whole can in.
Vicky K
I made the receipt last night. It came out very watery . Can you tell me was went wrong?
vicky K.
I am not sure Vicky. Perhaps your can of peaches had more liquid than normal? I am sorry it did not come out for you.
Can I use pre-made dumpling strips instead of cake mix?
You might be able to Donna, but then it won’t be a dump cake, it would be peach dumplings…
Have you made it with Spice Cake instead of the yellow cake mix?
If so, is it any good??
I have not made the Peach Dump Cake with a spiced cake mix myself. But, I think you are on to something. If you happen to try it, let us know how it turns out.
This is best using Freestone peaches instead of yellow cling. A richer flavor! I also made it adding 1/2 cup raisins to the mix. It was quite good.
Thank you for the suggestion on the peaches for this recipe. We love hearing from our viewers. I never thought to add in raisins to the mix! Will try that the next time.
Just made this last night, turned out great. I did add one more thing at the end for added crunch. I sprinkled Panco Bread Crumbs over the top.
So glad you enjoyed the recipe Nanette. I never would have thought of adding panko bread crumbs to the top but that sounds great! Thanks for letting us know!
I double the amount of peaches last night, but it came out much too watery compared to the regular amounts. I will drain one can of peaches next time. I also used a spice cake, which added a lot of yummy flavor. I think the idea of walnuts is good, so that will have to happen next time.
Thanks for your comment Natch. Draining one can of the peaches sounds like a good idea!
A bit too sweet for our family. Tried it again, because its a Great idea. Used frozen peaches. Turned out perfect..thanks for the recipe!
Canned peaches (especially if they are packed in juice instead of water) will be sweeter. But frozen peaches are less sweet for sure. So glad you enjoyed the recipe the second time around Laura!
I see different cook times in different recipes for this same dessert. How do I test it for doness? And do I cook it with the lid on or off?
Hi Linda, you cook this recipe with the lid on. As far as how to tell when it is done? As for how to tell when a slow cooker dump cake is done; what you want to look for is a little browning around the edges where the cake mix/butter meets the sides of your slow cooker. The top cake part won’t actually be cake like in consistency, it will instead be more of a crumbly texture. You also should be able to see the juices from the fruit mixture bubbling around the edges as well.
I changed this a bit. I used butter pecan cake mix. I also mixed the cake mix and butter before putting it on top of the peaches, and then I sprinkled it with dried sugar! Tasted pretty good!
That sounds good! I didn’t know they made a butter pecan cake mix but I am thinking that a peach dump cake made with butter pecan cake mix would be fantastic!
Can I use frozen peaches?
While not tested with frozen peaches I think it should work. Let me know how it turns out Sharron if you give it a try!
I put about 7or 8 sheets of paper towels over the top of the crockpot then put them lid in place on the crockpot absorbs moist from crockpot and dump cake won’t be as watery
Great idea Marvin!
I see so many recipes that say “serves 6”, or “serves 4” etc…but how big is an actual serving?? One cup, two cups, 8 oz???
Sorry Elise we don’t measure out the serving sizes. A serving is the recipe divided by the servings. So 1/6th, 1/4th, 1/8th, etc… of the finished cooked recipe.
My crockpot is only 2 1/2 qt. Will this recipe be too much for it?
Hi Kay, a 2.5 quart slow cooker is pretty small. I think this recipe will be too much for it. You could always try cutting the recipe in half though. I think that may work!
I am nervous I did 2 cans of peaches I didn’t drain one either I hope it comes out okay.
I would love to make this. But it is just to of us. How do I store leftovers. I don’t imagine they will be as good as the first.
You can store leftovers in the refrigerator for a few days no issues. Just store in a food safe container with a lid in the refrigerator. If you like the peach dump cake warm you can warm it back up in the microwave before eating.
If you really want to mix it up, try a boxed spice cake mix with the peaches. OMGoodness it is delicious. ….. I also use homemade whipped topping, but nothing beats good old ice cream.
That sounds amazing Tiffany! Thanks for the tip!
What do you use for liquid when using frozen peaches?
Great question Diane, as the frozen peaches cook they will release their own liquid.
I made this for our family Easter potluck with frozen peaches from last years harvest and it was a crowd favorite for sure! Because of the extra liquid when I thawed them, I briefly cooked them with some cornstarch and cinnamon prior to putting the rest of the ingredients in. I’ll definitely make this again!
Thanks for the lovely review Ashley. I am so glad you enjoyed this recipe and found a way to make it using your own fresh peaches!
