DIY Taco Seasoning Mix
This recipe for taco seasoning mix that you can make yourself has been developed to be low-sodium and gluten free so that it works for everyone no matter their special dietary needs.
Many store bought versions of taco seasoning contain questionable ingredients that are always nice to try and avoid if you can. I mean why consume things like maltodextrin and modified cornstarch when you can make up your own mix, suit it to your families tastes if you want to and use lovely ingredients like cumin, oregano, chili powder!
I make up a batch or a double batch and store it in an air tight jar in my pantry.

How does this correspond to a packet of store-bought mix? How much do I use to equate to a store-bought pkg?
This recipe yields 3 tablespoons which is the equivalent of 1 packet of store bought mix. You can make this in larger batches if you would like to.
That information is located in the recipe description at the top of the recipe box. But easily missed.
This is a keeper! We used the mix to make a batch of tacos with ground turkey, it was delicious. The ground pepper seemed like it would be too much for me, so I halved it (I know this is a matter of personal taste). The best thing is that I made a double batch so I have some ready to use in my kitchen!
That is awesome Pat. So glad you enjoyed the taco meat. I also like to double the recipe and freeze it for meals later. I mean while I am doing it once I may as well as double it. I will use for quick tacos or my kids will add them to their quesadillas for an afternoon snack or lunch.
