Slow Cooker Bacon and Garlic Sweet Green Beans

If you are looking for a new way to make green beans in your slow cooker have I got the dish for you! These green beans are super easy to put together, you don’t even have to pre-cook the bacon first. Instead you just toss it all in your slow cooker and turn it on HIGH to cook for 1 hour. Then switch your crock-pot over to the LOW setting and let it cook 4 more hours. You are left with green bean perfection.

There is the trifecta flavors of savory salty smoky bacon, plenty of garlic goodness and then just a touch of sweetness from some brown sugar.

You can serve these green beans with just about any meal (like meatloaf) but they really shine at your holiday table. Make these up for Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter and free up the stove and oven space by cooking these up in your slow cooker.

Center cut bacon was used in this recipe over regular bacon because it is meatier and has less fat. But if you want to use regular bacon you can do that too. Just cut down on the butter a little bit to compensate for the extra fat from regular bacon.

I used canned green beans but if you would rather use fresh or frozen green beans you can do that too. Just add one additional hour to the cooking time…so 1 hour on HIGH and 5 hours on LOW.

Delicious!

Should the canned green beans be drained before putting into the Crock Pot?

Hi Marian, yes the green beans should be drained first. I have edited the recipe to reflect that important step. Thanks!
