Crock-Pot Cherry Pork Tenderloin
Recently my local grocery store had a great buy one get one free deal on pork tenderloins that I just could not resist. As a mom of 5 children I am always on the hunt for a great deal on meat so that I can stash it away in my upright freezer out in the garage.
Pork tenderloins are a nice lean meat and one that my family really loves so I went ahead and stocked up on about 10 tenderloins.
This easy recipe is a take on the classic slow cooker cranberry chicken recipe that has been floating around out there in recipe-land forever. In this recipe however I decided to use a can of cherry pie filling instead of canned cranberry sauce. A packet of French onion soup mix is mixed into the pie filling and then I went ahead and added a little bit of dried thyme and nutmeg which both go great with pork and adds just a little something extra to the recipe.
And while I have not tested this recipe using chicken, I am pretty sure it would taste fantastic. Just adjust the cooking time for chicken (about 5 – 6 hours on LOW).
This recipe is perfect for Sunday family dinner served with perhaps some rice pilaf and a side salad or some steamed veggies. And it comes out pretty too when plated up on a serving platter, garnished a little bit with some fresh parsley.
