Place the chicken legs in a single layer at the bottom of the slow cooker.
In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning to create a spice rub. Sprinkle the seasoning evenly over the chicken legs.
Use tongs to turn the chicken legs, ensuring they are evenly coated with the seasoning.
Pour the BBQ sauce over the chicken legs. Use the tongs to coat the chicken evenly in the sauce.
Cover the slow cooker and cook for 4 hours on HIGH or 8 hours on LOW , or until the internal temperature of the chicken legs reaches 165°F when checked with a meat thermometer.
Serve these crockpot chicken legs with rice or alongside a side salad for a complete meal.
Optional Step For Extra Crispy Skin
For extra crispy chicken, preheat your oven's broiler. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker, brush them with additional BBQ sauce if desired, and place them on a baking sheet lined with foil. Position the baking sheet 6-8 inches from the broiler and broil them for 2-3 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
Notes
Crock-Pot Freezer Meal Instructions:
Write instructions on freezer bags with a sharpie
Place fresh drumsticks in Ziploc freezer bag (I would suggest, not using slider, and I would use a brand name).
Mix the honey, BBQ sauce and spices in a bowl and then pour over the drumsticks.
Squish around the BBQ Sauce around the chicken.
Lay flat, and squeeze out as much water as possible.
Lay as flat as possible while freezing.
If you are doubling recipe/I would use 2 bags.
Be sure this is completely thawed before cooking/and squeeze all the sauce onto the chicken.
