Add prepared apples and water to a 6 quart or larger slow cooker.
14 Medium Apples, ½ Cup Water
Cover and cook on LOW for 4 hours.
Using a food mill, food processor or blender puree the cooked apples until smooth.
Add pureed apples back into slow cooker and add sweetener and spices to taste (see recipe note).
Recover slow cooker and continue to cook on LOW for an additional 4 hours.
Once apple sauce is cooked you can ladle the hot apple sauce into canning jars and process in a water bath canner for 20 minutes, adjusting for altitude as needed. OR you can store the apple sauce in freezer containers in the freezer for up to 1 year.
Notes
You may either leave the applesauce unsweetened or sweeten to taste with white granulated sugar, brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, agave nectar, stevia, monk fruit, or any other sweetener of choice.You make also add cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves or other warm spices to add a different flavor profile to your applesauce.
