Instructions
Add split peas, chicken broth, carrots, onion and ham to a 5 quart or larger slow cooker.
Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours until peas break down and soup becomes very thick.
Add water to loosen, if necessary.
To help peas break down, about 5 hours in, use a potato masher to break them up.
Taste soup and season with salt and pepper if needed.
