Crock-Pot Easy French Dip Sandwiches Recipe
With only three ingredients this recipe is super easy to toss together and put in the slow cooker. The taste is fantastic and also can be made into a slow cooker freezer meal. Perfect for busy days!

Ingredients
  • 3pounds beef chuck roasttrimmed of excess fat and cut into several pieces
  • 29ounces canned beef consommefound in the soup section of the grocery store
  • 1/2medium onionchopped

Instructions
  1. Remove the thick cartilage and fatty parts of the chuck roast.
  2. Cut the chuck roast into 5 to 6 pieces so that the meat fits in a 6 quart or larger slow cooker.
  3. Place the beef, chopped onions, and consomme into the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours or on HIGH for 5 to 7 hours.
  5. Remove the chunks of roast an and shred the meat in a separate bowl.
  6. Strain the liquid in the slow cooker and discard any onion and other smaller pieces of meat to create your au jus for dipping.
  7. Place shredded meat on buns or rolls and serve little bowls of the au jus on the side for dipping your sandwiches in while eating.
Recipe Notes

Freezer Meal Instructions:

    1. Place all ingredients into a 1 gallon size zippered freezer bag OR FoodSaver bag.
    2. Place bag on flat surface and seal bag closed while pressing out as much excess air as possible OR use your FoodSaver sealing system to vacuum seal the bag closed.
    3. Label bag with date prepared, name of recipe, ingredients and cooking instructions.
    4. Lay bag flat in freezer and allow to freeze for several hours. At that point you can stand the bags upright in your freezer if desired.
    5. Thaw meal for 24 hours in the refrigerator before placing contents of the freezer bag in the slow cooker and cooking according to the recipe directions.
