  1. Add 3/4 cup of the pineapple juice to the bottom of a 6 quart or larger slow cooker.
  2. Add 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar to the pineapple juice and mix until all the brown sugar is moistened.
  3. With the fat side down, place the ham inside the slow cooker.
  4. Using a sharp knife, score the ham about 1/4 inch deep all over the top of the ham.
  5. Pour 2 tablespoons of pineapple juice carefully over the top of the ham to moisten the ham.
  6. Rub the remaining 1/2 cup of brown sugar into the top of the ham.
  7. Poke the whole cloves into the cross sections of the scoring lines.
  8. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 9 hours or on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours, basting the ham 2 to 3 times with the liquid in the slow cooker.
  9. Cook the ham until the internal temperature of the ham reaches 145° on an instant read meat thermometer.
  10. Carefully remove ham from the slow cooker and place it on a platter. Tent the ham loosely with foil and allow the ham to rest 10 to 15 minutes before slicing the ham.
  11. Remove cloves before eating and enjoy! (See **Sauce/Gravy Note below if you would like to make a sauce or gravy to serve with your ham)
Recipe Notes

*Ham Note – Before starting this recipe, make sure your ham will fit inside your slow cooker. If it doesn’t fit, cut off any extra meat from around the end of the bone area to make it fit in your slow cooker.

**Sauce/Gravy Note – If you would like to thicken the juices left in the slow cooker for a gravy or sauce (excellent over slices of ham and/or mashed potatoes!) simply pour off the liquid in the slow cooker into a large glass liquid measuring cup, skim off any excess fat that rises to the top. Pour the liquid into a saucepan set over medium heat on the stove-top, whisk in 1/2 teaspoon of cornstarch per cup of liquid and cook while whisking until the liquid comes to a simmer and thickens (about 5 to 7 minutes).
