This recipe does NOT have to be frozen first, if you are wanting to do this recipe by itself, then stay on this page and we will go from here.

This is a very easy recipe to put together and very simple tasting if you are wanting to add it to a more complex dish.  I just did  white rice because that is what my children like the best.  Noodles, mashed potatoes, chopped potatoes,  brown rice and tortilla’s are some of the things you could use this in.  Even steamed broccoli would be an excellent choice.  As with most dishes that include rice, we don’t put the rice in the crock-pot nor in the freezer.  It’s best cooked by itself on the stove-top or rice cooker.  I am a low fuss gal, and just use minute rice, but feel free to use what rice your family is used to. Because I prepared this with other crock-pot meals I cooked a huge batch of hamburger in the crock-pot first.   You will want to place this in the freezer with hamburger cooked, or cook the hamburger before you place in the crock if you are skipping the freezer part.

Ingredients
  • 1.5 pounds Ground Beef extra lean, cooked, crumbled and fat drained off
  • 1 cup Yellow Onion diced small
  • 2 stalks Celery diced small
  • 10.75 ounces Canned Cream Of Chicken Soup can also use cream of celery soup
  • 1 teaspoon Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 3 cups Rice cooked

Instructions
  1. Spray a 4 quart or larger slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray if desired to help with clean up.
  2. Place the cooked and crumbled ground beef, diced onion and celery, cream of chicken (or cream of celery soup), soy sauce and oregano in the slow cooker and stir to combine.
  3. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours or HIGH for 3 hours, eyeball to make sure it doesn't overcook on the sides, this recipe can be stirred once or twice if necessary since the hamburger is already cooked.
  4. When your meal is nearly cooked, prepare the rice or whatever you were planning on serving it with, so that they will be ready around the same time.
  5. Serve the beef mixture over the rice.
Recipe Notes

Crock-Pot Freezer Meal Instructions:

  • Precook the hamburger, drain very well.
  • I use a 2 quart pitcher to place the gallon zipper bag in to hold it in place while adding ingredients.
  • Place all ingredients, except the rice in a gallon freezer bag (I suggest name brand and not sliders).
  • Mix a bit with your hands on the outside and get it laying flat.
  • Squeeze as much air as you can out and close the zipper.
  • Lay flat in your freezer.
  • Thaw before cooking.
  • Pour all in the crock-pot and cook as directed.
  • Cook rice separately (remember rice generally doesn't go in the freezer or the crock-pot).
