Crock-Pot Queso Blanco Cheese Dip
Crock-Pot Queso Blanco Cheese Dip is a recipe I came up with for a church party several weeks ago. For some reason it has become a recurring theme for me, to bring a crock-pot full of yummy food. The activity is one we do yearly where we bring items in good repair that we no longer need and then swap them for items we could use. We each got 5 clothes pins to put on the items that we wished to take home and then had some light refreshments including the yummy dip. I brought some clothing we no longer needed and some magazines. They put the clothing pins in a hat and draw them out as to who “wins”. We took home some other clothing and a hockey stick for my son. Everyone loved the dip, and I enjoyed it so much that I made another batch at home for the kids to enjoy. My children prefer things that are not super spicy but this can be made as hot or mild as you wish. I used fresh salsa but processed salsa can be used as well. If you are needing some different idea’s for a spicier Queso Blanco, Lady Heidi did an excellent one here. Queso Blanco Velveeta (or similar) can be found with the other Velveeta at your local grocery store shelves, it’s a lighter color and a bit milder taste. Be sure that you drain the salsa well, so that your Queso Blanco Cheese Dip isn’t runny and if you are not keen on using Velveeta they’re some Queso Blanco cheese’s that can be used in the refrigerator section as well but I would suggest if you go that route, test batch first in the microwave a small chunk of the Queso Cheese to see how it melts. Some cheese melt more smoothly and evenly than others. That is one is nice about Velveeta is it makes such a great smooth dip and stays that great consistency even when it cools down.
