love to try it but can’t handle evaporated milk! too much sugar and fat
Hi Jill, I am thinking that you are thinking of Sweetened Condensed Milk and not evaporated milk. You can purchase non-fat evaporated milk (Carnation is a common brand) which does not have any fat and only 4g of sugars.
I’m veganizing this – I used vegetable broth & added raw cashews. I’m going to puree it.
Great recipe, but why no garlic?? Would so go with the Evap milk. A bay leaf would be nice, too. Has inspired me to give it a go, all the same, cheers!
