So my plan was to make a chex mix for Superbowl Sunday. As usual my plans did not pan out. So I had a bunch of Chex cereal that needed to find a good home, so I came up with this instead.
Ingredients
Instructions
- I used a liner, but this recipe can certainly be done without one.
- Spray liner or crock with Pam.
- Pour the 2 cups of Nestle White Chocolate Chips to melt.
- Put on low and cover.
- Allow to cook for about an hour, the chips will start to soften and should be ready to be mixed.
- Stir the chips until they are completely melted and not chunky.
- Turn off crock.
- Pour in the two kinds of Chex.
- Mix well.
- Take crock out of it’s base if at all possible.
- Mix in the candy corns and the Valentine Morsels (I picked mostly the red ones to put in mix).
- Mix quickly getting all the white chocolate to cover the mix.
- Quickly either pour it onto wax paper that is on a cookie sheet, or scoop out.
- The candy corn and chocolate morsels will melt quickly so don’t let it sit in crock once it’s stirred in.
- Allow several hours to set up and dry, then break into pieces and they are ready to eat!
Notes
I strongly suggest that Nestle white chocolate chips being used, I have not found another brand that would melt appropriately without adding butter, which would not work well with this recipe.
This recipe can be easily adapted for other holidays, using different colors of candy corns and morsels. Nuts could be added as well, I don’t add nuts because my children would then refuse to eat it.
