We are long-haul truckers. I start this soup about 2:00 in the afternoon and it is ready for us whenever we get to our stopping point between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m.

Crock-Pot Split Pea Soup #2


2 (32 Oz.) Boxes Chicken Broth
1 (16 Oz.) Bag Split Peas
1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder


  1. Combine chicken broth and split peas in crock pot and cook on high for two hours.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and cook on low until peas are desired texture, usually additional three to five hours.

    I wish your quantities were a bit more precise than a “box” or a “bag”. I have no idea how much a box of broth is or a bag of split peas. We don’t have broth in boxes where I live and I doubt that split peas are packaged in same bags worldwide.

      Hi Maja, I am sorry that the specific sizes were not listed. This was a recipe sent to us by a reader and not one of our own creations. I will edit and fix the recipe to be a bit more clearer on sizes.

      A box (or carton) of broth is 32 oz. and a bag of beans is 1 lb.
