Slow Cooker Easy Chicken And Gravy
This easy recipe uses only 4 simple ingredients and is comfort food at it’s best. Simple and tasty we really enjoy serving the shredded chicken with gravy over mashed potatoes, egg noodles or rice.
The recipe as is, is simple and basic, but feel free to jazz it up a little bit by adding some frozen vegetables (peas and carrots for example) and some herbs and spices (poultry seasoning, thyme, garlic powder, sage, rosemary, etc.).
My husband prefers it plain though, just the way it is. So that is how I make it. Just 3 ingredients (plus water) tossed in my slow cooker, let it cook, shred the chicken meat and serve it up.
Easy perfect dinner for any night of the week!

Angel says
Very good! But I think you need to cook 5 hours on high, not low. That is what I did. I also added carrots and potatoes.
Liz says
Do you have to cook the chicken first or should i just add it to the mixture uncooked and let it cook in the crock pot?
Nancy says
Liz, I am sure you add the chicken breasts to the crock pot when they are still raw. I am making this today, and put in frozen chicken breasts. They will cook just fine in the crock pot.
Patty says
If you put in frozen meat does it change the lenghth of cooking time??
Lady Katie says
Might add 30 minutes to an hour. depends on how frozen it is.
AnnMaria Boyce says
Making it now! Perfect meal cuz I am t.i.tired! Smells delishmas. Thank you!
Lady Heidi says
I hear ya on those days you are just plumb wore out…crock-pot cooking sure does help!
Does it make a big difference if you do not add the cream of chicken soup?
The cream of chicken soup is what helps make the gravy.
My family loved this I put mine on high for 5 hours instead of low I also have a bigger family so I doubled the gravy ingredients . It was such a hit I’m making it again tonight everyone’s excited
So glad your family enjoyed this recipe Jojo!
My gravy for some reason came out more watery than I expected and I followed the recipes exactly like it says but it smells amazing
Some brands of chicken release more liquid when they cook than other brands. You might try thickening up the gravy with a little flour or cornstarch.
Wow this looks delicious! Can’t wait to try it.
Thanks for the tip!
Have a great day.
Priyanka
Thanks!
Crock-Pot Ladies:
Recipe looks delicious! Would like to try it, but, recipe calls for LOW 4-5 hours…some
comments are calling for 5 hours on HIGH. Which temp is it? Don’t want to overcook/undercook.
Thanks!
4 to 5 hours on LOW should cook raw thawed chicken breasts just fine. If you are doubling the recipe or using frozen chicken the cooking time will be longer.
Tried this recipe few nights ago for everyone. Turned out really great. Such an easy recipe! Took all of 5 mins to put together in cockpot, pUT on low and cooked while at work. Fixed noodles and freshe corn on the cob. Great tasting and VERY easy recipe that all liked! Will definitely do again!
So glad you enjoyed this easy recipe Alice!
This sounds amazing and that’s what’s for dinner tonight thank you for the recipe
You’re welcome, Kathy! Hope you enjoy!
This looks really good will have to try it tonight thanks
You’re welcome, Kathy! Hope you enjoy!
I’m just wondering what brand is best for the cream of chicken? I see you told one person certain brands are more watery than others.
I personally like to use Campbell’s brand of cream of chicken soup. I find that some of the generic brands are more watery.
This recipe looks delicious and easy to make in the crockpot! I can’t wait to try it out at home. Thanks for sharing!
My oven isn’t working so I found this recipe to use for Thanksgiving dinner for me and my husband. I didn’t follow the recipe exactly but it still turned out great, I had a big pack (about 6 pounds) of boneless chicken breast, I put it in the crockpot frozen, I ended up using 4 cans of soup, and 5 packs of the gravy mix with the 6 cups of water. I wasn’t sure how this would turn out being as those proportions were for 3 pounds of chicken, but it turned out great. I actually could’ve went down to 5 cups of water for a thicker gravy. But it was delicious and we will eat off it for about 3 days. Thanks for the recipe.
So glad you enjoyed the recipe Sabrina and your modifications sound amazing too!
